How To Check Affiliation Of CBSE Schools

CBSE school affiliation check

It is that time of the year when parents, in India (and expats) are in a panic mode. Not because it is appraisal time at their offices but it’s something more important than that. It is about the selection of school for their kids.

CBSE (Central Board Of Secondary Education) affiliated schools are amongst the popular choices for parents in India and abroad when it comes to education and no wonder there are 15251 CBSE affiliated schools. Though almost all schools begin the admission process very early, many schools with-hold or do not clearly state their affiliation or recognition information and thereby putting parents to a panic mode. There have also been rumours of school using their existing names to open branches, without proper approvals Or schools having similar names.  As a parent myself, I can understand the troubles one goes through.

Fortunately, you can check the affiliation status of CBSE schools online. Go to http://cbseaff.nic.in/SchoolDir/userview.aspx

and you can search on various parameters like:

  • Affiliation Number
  • Statewise Regionwise
  • Schoolwise
  • Updated Schools
  • Disaffiliation Schools
  • Permanent Schools

How the Malleswaram to Peenya Metro fares

Metro Train Bangalore

Today, I had the opportunity  to commute on the newly opened Malleswaram – Peenya Namma Metro line. This is the second line in Bangalore after MG Road – Byappannahalli and forms the Reach 3 & 3A of the Bangalore Metro lines. So, this is how it fared:

There are no parking spaces developed at any of the Metro stations between Malleswaram and Peenya Industries stations. Although there are talks of having them constructed but the station’s locations are so conjusted that it would be difficult to think they can be developed later. There is a dedicated BMTC bus that connects Kempegowda Bus stand (aka Majestic) to Mantri Square/Malleswaram station. This is a welcome step as people going to Peenya/Yeshwanthpur & its railway station could probably make use of these than paying exorbiant Auto-Rickshaw/Taxi fares and the cost of the BMTC to Mantri squre is just 5/-, quite appealing.

The total stretch between Malleswaram Sampige Road station to Peenya Industries station is about 10 kms with the total time taken for the commute is 45 minutes and the price is Rs 23/-. As is currently available, you can also buy the contactless smart cards (NFC) that offers a discount of 15% in comparison to normal tickets. Cost of the smart card is Rs 100/- with travel value worth Rs 50/- and can be charged online as well (this particular card is called as Varshik). Check the BMRC site for more info.

None of the security guards that I talked to could speak in Kannada, let alone understand what I was asking for. However, the officials at the counters could interact and also encouraged me to go for the smart card, which I did.  Announcements were in Kannada, English & Hindi, not sure the latter one is really needed and is a topic of some hot discussion in the Social Media circles.
Quite enjoyed the ride, although the feeder services and parking lots would do a lot of good for the people wanting to switch to Metro. BMRCL recently started renting cycles at the MG Road station to encourage people to use the eco-friendly mode of transport in reaching to and from metro station.
